Keeps the elements out. However, for the price I would prefer it come in different colors, or at a minimum have an option to come already primed for painting.
Hard to give 3 stars because the product is very high quality, but product is really geared toward a larger TV. I was planning to use it with the 44” dlx case, the arm and bracket and so big it looks obnoxious in a small space.
In the end, the mounting plate fit my existing studs however, the directions in sections were confusing. I'm normally a good DIYer, but I had to go over the directions time after time and had someone else read them as well. Most of the directions had to do with the storm shell itself, I believe only a couple pages were devoted to the plate, the drawings were confusing. I only gave it a 3 star because of the directions.
I own two of these and love them. However the one with the soundbar has one design flaw: the fan needs to be offset because it sits right behind the center of the soundbar. Otherwise excellent. Love these.
My studs are 16" on center - but not centered between the 2 windows where the Storm Shell was placed. Without this adapter mounting plate, my TV would have been 7 inches to one window and 11 inches to the other (which my OCD would have never allowed). Now the Storm Shell/TV are both perfectly centered (9" to each window) - and I couldn't be happier.
Turned out we didn't need it. I think its bad business to not offer a refund on it. Soent 800+ on the shell. $30 on the fan. I think refunding me for the mounting plate is not a big loss on your end.
We are extremely happy with the storm shell. Simple to use, looks clean installed and does what it is supposed to do.
The fan really does not make a difference in cooling down the actual
Storm shell. It should be on a thermostat so it goes on and off. Not really worth the purchase.

My suggestion is that the fan should be required on all of your storm shells and installed at the time of installation. It makes it tough to add the fan once the shell has already been attached to the wall. I almost had to take the shell down with the TV attached to get the fan installed correctly with the screws and nut to tighten it correctly. Now that that was accomplished, I noticed a difference in the temperature of the tv when the face cover was removed.
I had to purchase these because I bought a storm shell and they came with none. I called them, and gave them an email of a detailed description of the parts i need and got no response.
Exactly what we were looking for to keep 50” flat panel mounted on exterior wall safe, secure and dry without looking overly conspicuous. Installation was straightforward and all materials required were included. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a way to install outdoor tv.

Glad I found Storm Shell. Great protection for an outdoor tv. The night after it was installed we had a high winds. Everything was blowing around the yard. Not the Storm Shell. My tv was protected. During the hot months I feel confident Storm She’ll will continue to protect the outdoor tv. Great product.
This was needed as I was unable to screw into the studs with the supplied bracket. After installing this plate, TV mounted appropriately

The first fan I received was defective. I spoke to customer service Owen and he had a replacement sent immediately. Can’t get any better than that.
